Sorting Out Race: Examining Racial Identity and Stereotypes in Thrift Store Donations

August 28, 2020 - November 29, 2020

Exhibition Dates: August 28 – November 28, 2020

Sorting Out Race arose out of a desire to divert artifacts with racial content from thrift stores to an exhibit that would generate a healthy community conversation about racial stereotypes past and present in order to heighten awareness of our continuing struggles with race.

This Kauffman Museum traveling exhibition will be returning from the road for its second home exhibition at Kauffman Museum. Recent venues include Arizona State Museum in Tuscan, Arizona; The Kansas African American in Wichita, Kansas; Arkansas State University Museum in Jonesboro, AR; and California State University in Fresno, CA.

Kauffman Museum is open Tues-Fri: 9:30 am-4:30 pm, and Sat-Sun: 1:30 pm-4:30 pm.
