“Sorting Out Race”: A Community Conversation

October 26, 2020 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Free

Our current special exhibition, “Sorting Out Race: Examining Racial Identity and Stereotypes in Thrift Store Donations” arose from the desire to divert artifacts from thrift stores to an exhibit that would generate healthy community dialogue about race. Join us as we continue the conversation in an online event hosted by Newton Public Library in collaboration with Kauffman Museum, Newton Area Arts and Culture, and the Kansas Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution.

The conversation will include presentations from panelists:
• Sheryl Wilson, Executive Director, Kansas Institute of Peace and Conflict Resolution
• Leia Lawrence, former manager, Newton Et Cetera Shop
• Ray Olais, local historian and retired Newton High School art teacher

To sign up for this free online program, visit the Zoom registration, and enter your name and email address. You will receive an email with a link you will use to join the Zoom webinar. The program will also be streamed live on the Newton Public Library Facebook page.
